Team Invacare successfully complete the Back Up Trust Snowdon challenge!

Snowdon 1

On the 4th-6th July, Team Invacare took part in their first Snowdon challenge, an annual fundraising event organised by the Back Up Trust. The team consisted of Invacare UK employees and they were tasked with conquering one of the highest mountains in the UK at over 3,500 ft high by walking, climbing, pushing and pulling a wheelchair user in a Küschall® custom built chair, to the summit and back, covering around 8 miles of mixed terrain.

Third fastest team

On their first attempt at the challenge, Team Invacare managed to reach the summit and back (and even did a sprint finish) in a very impressive 4 hours 54 minutes and were awarded 3rd place. 11 teams entered in total and they even managed to beat a few experienced teams!

Money raised for the charity

The sole reason the team took on the challenge was to help raise money for the Back Up Trust, a very worthy charity, and so far they have managed to raise an incredible £4,700 with donations still coming in. The grand total raised by all the teams involved is just over £40,000! This money will help so many spinal cord injury people to transform their lives and includes wheelchair skills training, mentoring, rehabilitative activity courses and support in getting back to work or school after the injury.

The team thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, and even though there are cuts, bruises, blisters and aching muscles, everyone has already signed up to take part next year.

Well done Team Invacare!
